Once again demonstrating his mastery of the thriller subgenre, Jeethu Joseph. His most recent film, in which Asif Ali stars, has several unexpected turns that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Nedumbara, a tiny village on the border between Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and police officer Giri Shankar are the subjects of the novel “Kooman.”
Giri is not well liked by his coworkers or the villagers, despite being a well-known figure in the village and having held the position in the same station for years. The director doesn’t waste any time in exposing Giri’s retaliatory nature, who waits for the right opportunity to exact revenge on those who have wounded his ego.
The incident that alters Giri’s life’s course and Giri’s attempts to avenge himself in a clever but dishonest way are the focus of the first half of the movie. After the intermission, Jeethu elevates the movie by having Giri participate in a “unofficial” investigation into a string of “suicide-like murders” occurring in his village and nearby communities for a while, distracting Giri from his guilt over an act he committed in retaliation.
Asif Ali did a fantastic job portraying the vulnerability of a person with a personality disorder as well as the struggle to overcome his flaws in the role of Giri. The supporting roles portrayed by Baburaj, Meghanathan, and Renji Panicker give the plot momentum.
Overall, “Kooman” provides its viewers with an engaging investigation thriller that will astound you with its allusion to a recent sensational case and unexpected climax.
