Vijay Sethupathi plays Gauri Shankar, a revolutionary writer from Tamil Nadu. Gauri Shankar gets into controversy by writing in his book how the government and political parties are ruining the freedom of speech and expression of the individual and bringing the country. Subsequently, he is writing a novel about the murders against black people. There are many conspiracies around him that this book should not be published.
Nithya Menon plays the role of an ordinary family woman who struggles with the emptiness of life. She owns a scooter and a DTP center shop. Vijay Sethupathi, who comes to this shop, asks to have his novel story printed and he left. But he did not return. It was then that Nithya Menon saw the news that writer Gauri Shankar had been shot dead by mysterious persons.
Nithya Menon is shocked by this news. Gowri Shankar wanders in search of the reason why he was killed. And Nithya Menon becomes a big fan of Gauri Shankar after reading his books. Nithya Menon is trying to fulfill writer Gauri Shankar’s dream of publishing a book “Black”. Did the book eventually come out? Or not? Tells the rest of the story.
Both Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menon have risen to the occasion and played their characters beautifully. Director Indhu has portrayed the character deeply enough to fill the mind of the audience after watching the film. Similarly, the story flows like a beautiful wave without any temptation from the beginning to the end. Indrajith, Indrans, Srikanth Murali and Deepak, although they have less time in the conduct, but the role is aweful. The director has bravely handled a different subject in her first film.
