The movie Christy, in which Malavika Mohanan plays the title character, is based on the life of its director Alvin Henry.

The return Malayalam film Christy starring Petta and Master actress Malavika Mohanan has already captured the interest of the audience thanks to its charming graphics, catchy songs, and a beautiful tale intimated by its teaser. The film, which also stars Mathew Thomas, is directed by Alvin Henry, a first-time director, and its script was written by renowned authors Benyamin and GR Indugopan.

This is what we know about the movie Christy, in which Malavika plays the title character and for which filming was completed last year.

Christy is based on real events that occurred in the life of filmmaker Alvin. The director had previously informed us that the real-life events had a certain cinematic quality, which was a major factor in his decision to use the subject as the basis for his debut directorial effort.

The main focus of the movie is an adolescent crush that Mathew’s character Roy has on Christy, who is a lot older than him. The movie, which is set in Poovar, follows Roy as he approaches Christy about this matter and confesses his emotions for her.

Alvin also acknowledged that getting the project approved had been difficult since it needed to be produced on a large scale with stars like Malavika and Mathew, who he said was his only option because the Kumbalangi Nights actor’s demeanour and appearance matched his own. Joy Mathew, Vineeth Vishwam, Rajesh Madhavan, Muthumano, Veena Nair, and Sminu Sijo are other cast members in Christy.

Benyamin, who wrote the screenplay for Aadujeevitham, made his screenwriting debut with the film, which also has Bheeshma Parvam cinematographer Anend C Chandran and Gautham Vasantha as its composer. In a previous interview, the author, who co-wrote the script with GR Indugopan, said, “This is a new stream for me. Writing a script is very different than writing a novel or a short story. I thus decided to give it a go, especially since Indugopan, who has previously written a few screenplays, was there to help and mentor me.

Christy is all set to hit theatres on February 17, along with Basil Joseph, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Niranjana Anoop-starrer Enkilum Chandrike and Lal, Anagha and Niranj Raju’s Dear Vaapi.
