Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Review: Benedict Cumberbatch’s movie casts an ‘imbalanced’ spell

Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens the doorway to the multiverse, including alternate versions of himself, whose threat to humanity is too great for the combined forces of Strange, Wong, and Wanda Maximoff.

Six months after the first film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverses of Madness, a few months after the mysterious intervention of the occult magician in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In line with MCU credibility, the film is also one of the hyperlinks in the multi-billion multiverse, which continues to generate movies and spin-off shows.

All fans of Doctor Strange wanted to see Benedict Cumberbatch’s surgeon turned into Super Hero rather than pop-up in various Marvel Cinematic Universe products. They have been given several repetitions of Wanda Maximoff and Doctor Strange waging a war for control against the Department of Visual Effects.

Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), a stand-alone series called WandaVision, helps explain why her alternative Ego is becoming an extreme version of the Scarlet Witch. Wanda follows the uncontrollable power of the young player Xochitl Gomez, who first runs into Doctor Strange in his dreams and then into the real world.

As Doctor Strange and his assistant De Camp Wong (Benedict Wong) strived to save America from the wrath of Wanda, familiar faces and newcomers arrive. These include the angry sorcerer Karl Mordo and Doctor Strange’s ex-lover Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams).

Sam Raimi’s movie has an old fashioned horror quality. A large octopus with a very red eye lays waste to a large city. Superheroes of other MCU branches receive treatment that does not suit their status. Wanda’s Anger, to do with her twin sons, is a dark fairy tale straight away.

Michael Waltron’s screenplay is as elegant as a computer screen with multiple tapes open at once. Often alternating between irrelevant conspiracy, Wanda’s frenzy, America’s change and Doctor Strange’s emotional revolt. It is more concerned with fitting into the big MCU ownership. The film is a computer generated image extravaganza in which Doctor Strange finds himself in one of many worlds where emotion is expressed. The words “I love you” uttered by the self-confident and monk superhero are never unreliable or out of place.

Benedict Cumberbatch is in excellent shape, balancing physical exertion with a withered intellect. Despite being perfect in the lead role, Cumberbatch’s skills have been wasted in the chaos of looking for something.

Benedict Wong is as entertaining as ever, making jokes and comebacks an insignificant role unforgettable. But the show belongs to Elizabeth Olsen, often the only human element in the production of humour.

The first Doctor Strange movie of 2016, directed by Scott Derrickson, was very much in its imagination. In one of the most spectacular scenes, a zombie Doctor Strange creates a new costume from a crowd of dead spirits.
