After a long hiatus from the silver screen, it was a storm in Shah Rukh Khan films. A few weeks ago, the actor announced Pathaan with the YRF, and on Tuesday, the actor announced his next film Dunki with director Rajkumar Hirani. The film also stars Tapsee Pannu and is set to release on December 22, 2023.
Shah Rukh Khan called the director of 3 Idiots his Santa Claus on Twitter. He wrote, “Dear @RajkumarHirani sir, Aap toh Mere Santa Claus nikle. Aap shuru karo main time pe pahunch jaunga. actually main toh set par hi rehne lagunga. Feeling humbled & excited to finally work with you. Bringing to you all #Dunki in cinemas on 22nd December 2023.”
The actor shared an announcement video with his tweet. In the video Shahrukh and Hirani talk about Dunki, which has humor, emotion and romance, but SRK’s signature pose is over. The actor jokingly says that he will gladly cut his hands to work with the director.
“Shah Rukh Khan has always been on my wish list in my career. The energy, glamor, humor and charm he brings to a film is unparalleled and I look forward to bringing that magic to the big screen.” – Hirani said in a statement.
Dunki marks the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani. Apart from Dunki and Pathaan, Shahrukh is also working on Atlee’s film, tentatively titled Lion. Pathaan is the first film to be released after Shah Rukh Khan’s break. The film also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham and will be released in theaters on January 25, 2023.
“Rajkumar Hirani is one of the best filmmakers of this generation, We always talk about working together, and I’m really happy to finally be doing it with ‘Dunki‘. We started filming this month and I enjoy every moment of it. Raju ke liye main Donkey, Monkey…kuch bhi ban sakta hoon,” said Shah Rukh Khan in a statement.
