‘Gulu Gulu’ movie review: Santhanam’s black comedy dishes a few laughs but nothing more

A nomadic Google (Santhanam), the last man in a tribal race wiped out in the name of urbanization. He helps those who ask for help, like the Google search engine. Thus, he faces many problems. A group of 5 friends, in that one gets kidnapped and ask Google to help rescue him.

The story is what Google gains and loses in this life-threatening operation.
Born in the Amazon jungle, A person who longs to meet another person who speaks his language in his lifetime, He has written the role of a good-hearted young man who picks up the corpse of a dead dog lying on the road and buries it, praying for its soul to rest in peace. Santhanam has played a compelling role for the first time. He can be appreciated for that.

Every character has a quirk, not just Google. Many scenes hang here and there to plot the consequences of that. Many of the scenes are even more meaningful. The politics that the director talks about are well taken in the midst of endangered languages, importance of mother tongue and life choices of women.

A space scientist’s son turns into a kidnapping drama to test his father’s love. His paranoid girlfriend, who is disgusted and afraid of old people, A friend who is infatuated with himself, another who rambles on about even the mundane with long parables, A French girl who can speak Tamil fluently, a younger brother of a villain who is interested in Pubji game and supporting characters who face unusual life situations and what they do when faced with problems.

Santhosh Narayanan’s background music and songs add strength to the film. Vijay Karthik Kannan’s cinematography gives the story what it needs. Those who expect everything happening on the screen to be logical have a hard time getting along with the film. Beyond such audiences Gulu Gulu will give a cool comedy experience to those who want a different screen experience.
