In the Disney+ animated series What If…?, Cate Blanchett, who played Hela in the film Thor: Ragnarok, will reprise her role. According to rumours, she will provide the character’s voice for the show’s second season.

The second season of What If…? is scheduled to stream some time around 2023, even though the series’ creators have not formally announced a release date. The first confirmed member of the cast for the upcoming second season is Cate Blanchett. Bryan Andrews, a storyboard artist and director best known for his work on Primal and Samurai Jack, confirmed Blanchett’s casting.

The first season’s nine episodes of What If…? were all directed by Andrews. Additionally, he was just confirmed to helm one episode of the Marvel Zombies spinoff series. Why not? Marvel’s use of parallel universe stories explores how things might have turned out differently. We got to see what the world might have been like if T’Challa had been abducted by the Ravagers and turned into a star lord rather than Peter Quill in the first season.

The director claims that the episode with Blanchett’s voice will be dedicated to Hela. In an interview, Andrews says of working with the Oscar-winning actor, “It was surreal.”
