Prithvi Shaw attacked by ‘fans’ with baseball bat after bitter row over selfies
Prithvi Shaw, an Indian cricket player, was assaulted in Mumbai but managed to escape unharmed. The 23-year-old was allegedly attacked as he was sitting in his friend’s car by a total of 8 persons. According to reports, the assailants were turned away from the Delhi Capitals’ opening match because they wanted to take a “selfie.”
The assailants began throwing stones at his friend’s car after Prithvi Shaw refused to take a photo. Eight individuals linked to the event had been filed against them by the Mumbai Police.
After the event, the Oshiwara Police have charged eight individuals under various sections of the Indian Criminal Code (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, and 506).
The accused also pursued Prithvi Shaw’s friend’s car. Two of the eight defendants, Sapna Gill and Shobhit Thakur, have been named. The complainant claims that Shaw and his pals were having dinner at a five-star hotel in Santacruz when a group of unidentified individuals approached their table and insisted on taking a photo.
The batsman obliged two individuals by taking their photographs, but after a while, the same group came back and insisted for another selfie. Shaw objected, stating that he had come to lunch with friends and didn’t want to be bothered. Prithvi’s buddy complained about them to the hotel management when they insisted on snapping pictures. The accused was then ordered to leave the hotel by the hotel management.
The accused were waiting outside the hotel when Shaw and his companion left after eating, and when they did, they assaulted them with baseball bats and broke the front and back windows of their automobile.
Shaw was consequently despatched in another vehicle. The accused also pursued Prithvi Shaw’s friend’s car. The vehicle of Shaw’s acquaintance was parked next to Jogeshwari’s Lotus gas station. where a woman approached the automobile and began to verbally abuse them. The complainant further stated that the woman allegedly wanted Rs 50,000 or else she would file a fraudulent police report.
Following this occurrence, the complainant went to the Oshiwara Police Station and reported it. The police then opened an investigation. Further research is being done. Shaw is one of the most well-liked athletes in the nation despite not being a regular for the Indian cricket team.
He was likened to someone like the legendary Sachin Tendulkar back in 2013. When Shaw produced a knock of 546 in a Harris Shield match in 2013, he smashed Sachin Tendulkar’s record and cemented his place in history.
Actress Nidhi Tapadia was featured in a recent Instagram post by Shaw referring to her as his wife. During a short period of time, Shaw erased the image and claimed that it had been altered, asking people not to accept what had been posted on his Instagram.
