Team India will play with South Africa for five T20 Internationals from 09 June 2022 and the Board has asked its players to meet in Delhi, the venue for the first T20 match from 5thJune. The South African team arrives in New Delhi on 2nd June. Although players will continue to be tested for COVID 19, there will be no crowd restrictions and no bio-bubble for the series. The Indian team will meet here on June 5 and the South African players will land in Delhi on June 2,2022 DTCA Joint Secretary Rajan Manchanda said.
Indian cricketers are at a much-needed interval after a two-month-long IPL series. K.L. Rahul will lead the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma along with senior members including Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumra and Mohammad Shami. All-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik return to their side. Meanwhile, left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh receives his first call-up with a tearful pace for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan, though out of the IPL 2022 normally, retained their places in the team with all rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer has retained his place alongside all rounder Deepak Hooda, who has been growing strongly over the past few months. Hooda is in good form for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022.
