IPL Auction: England’s Harry Brook Bought By SunRisers Hyderabad For Rs 13.25 Crores

At the IPL 2023 Auction in Kochi on Friday, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) purchased England batter Harry Brook for a staggering sum of Rs 13.25 crores.

At the IPL 2023 Auction in Kochi, England batsman Harry Brook was purchased by the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for a staggering sum of Rs 13.25 crores. Brook was the subject of a bidding conflict between SRH and Rajasthan Royals, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also participating. With an asking price of Rs. 1.5 crore, Brook has become well-known for his astounding stroke play during his brief but a promising international career.

In the most recent Test series against Pakistan, he quickly rose to the top run-scorer position, amassing 468 runs at an average of 93.60, including three centuries, one half-century, and the maximum score of 153. For his outstanding performance in the longer format, he was also handed the “Man of the Series” award.

For his outstanding performance in the seven-match T20I series against the Asian heavyweights that took place in September and October as part of the tour, Brook was also handed the “Man of the Series” title. He accumulated 238 runs in seven innings at an average of 79.33, including one half-century and the highest score of 81*.

Earlier, New Zealand batter Kane Williamson was bought by Gujarat Titans (GT) for his base price of Rs 2 crores.

Williamson’s IPL 2022 performance with SRH wasn’t very good. He was only able to score 216 runs at an average of 19.64 in 13 games. From his bat, only one fifty was produced. His strike rate, which was 93.51, was also incredibly poor. He was fired by the team before the November 2023 IPL auction.

In 13 T20Is this year, Williamson scored 443 runs at an average of 36.91 with three fifties. His strike rate however has been a little subpar for T20I standards, sitting at 118.76.
