IPL Media Rights sold to 2 broadcasters for TV and digital for Rs 44,075 crore for 410 matches in 2023-27 cycle

Sony and Viacom are at the forefront of TV and digital rights. The Indian subcontinent sold a total of Rs. 44,075 crore. As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prepares for a sharp fall with TV and digital broadcasting rights, IPL media rights have come under fire from e-auction market experts.

Television rights for the Indian subcontinent were sold for Rs. 23.575 crore and digital rights for Rs. 20,500 crore for the five years from 2023 to 2027. Sony and the Reliance-Viacom joint venture are at the forefront of TV and digital rights for the Indian subcontinent respectively.

The BCCI has earned Rs. 44,075 crore for 410 matches in a five-year cycle of selling TV and digital rights exclusively to the Indian subcontinent. The IPL will have 74 matches for the next 3 seasons and the BCCI wants to extend it to 94 per season in the last two years of the cycle.

The BCCI divided media rights into 4 sets. The first of the 4 packages will be the TV rights for the Indian subcontinent and the second will be the digital rights for it. Professionals says that the sales of these two packages will be bigger for BCCI than ever before. Third, for the first time in the history of IPL media ownership, a package for 18 matches will be on sale, which is a non-exclusive digital package. Fourth Foreign Television and Digital Rights.

The base price for 4 packages is given as

  1. Package A – Rs.49 crore per match
  2. Package B – Rs.33 crore per match
  3. Package C – Rs.11 crore per game
  4. Package D – Rs.03 crore per game
