Malikappuram by Unni Mukundan is already this year’s first Malayalam superhit.
Unni Mukundan’s Malikappuram is all set to have a massive theatrical premiere in Telugu after winning fans and drawing crowds in Malayalam. The Malayalam movie’s producers have also hired Allu Arjun’s business to release it in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The rights to distribute Malikappuram, a family-friendly movie about two kids traveling to Sabarimala, have been acquired by Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts. Unni plays the part of Ayyappadas, a stranger who helps him fulfill his and his family’s yearning to meet Lord Ayyappa at the Sabarimala shrine.
The script for the Vishnu Sasi Shankar-helmed film was written by Abhilash Pillai, who also authored last year’s crime thriller Cadaver with Amala Paul. Soon, Malikappuram will also be available in Tamil. There have been rumors that Ponniyin Selvan actor Jayaram has offered to subtitle some of the film’s scenes that Mammootty narrates in the Malayalam version.
Given the amount of Ayyappa worshippers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu version of the movie should do well at the box office. Sampath Raj, Ramesh Pisharody, TG Ravi, Sreejith Ravi, and Manoj K Jayan all play significant parts in the movie, which has already made over Rs 10 crore at the Kerala box office.
Malikappuram has mass components that are targeted towards this population, despite being a family-friendly entertainment, which is another reason why the film is anticipated to perform well in other states. Abhilash, the author of the movie, has previously informed us that it contains one of the longest action sequences ever produced in Malayalam. The aforementioned episode also shares similarities with parts of RRR and Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan, a successful Telugu film. On January 20, Malikappuram’s Telugu remake will be released in theatres.
With recent roles in movies like Samantha’s Yashoda, NTR Jr.’s Janatha Garage, and Ravi Teja’s Khiladi, Unni has a solid fan following in the Telugu cinema industry. In addition to Bruce Lee, Vysakh’s “mass” action entertainment, the actor is also slated for a significant solo appearance in Telugu this year.
