Former India opener Virender Sehwag has acknowledged Dhoni’s association with Chennai Super Kings supporters since the start of the league. Before the start of IPL 2022, Sehwag came up with a clear tribute to Dhoni, who resigned as CSK captain.
Unpredictable MS Dhoni will not toss in the 15th season. Four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have handed over the captaincy to cricketer Ravindra Jadeja. According to a brief statement issued by the organization, “Season and beyond” Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai.
“One of the best stories of the Indian Premier League brand. Thala Dhoni and Chennai will be in touch like very few. Chennai is lucky to have a leader like him and he has received support and love from the owners.” – tweeted sehwag.
Before handing over the baton to Jadeja, Dhoni-led Chennai won 116 of 190 IPL matches, four IPL titles and two Champions League T20 titles between 2010 and 2014. Like Dhoni, he has been instrumental in the team’s success in the league.
On March 26, CSK will play its newly formed Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to begin its season.
