“Deepika Padukone Skips San Diego Comic-Con for Project K as a Consequence of Adhering to SAG-AFTRA Guidelines Amid Hollywood Strike”
Indian actor Deepika Padukone will unfortunately miss the premiere of the movie ‘Project K’ at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) due to the ongoing strike by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (SAG-AFTRA) in the US. As a SAG-AFTRA member, she is obliged to follow the union’s rules during the strike, which prevent performers from engaging in promotional activities like appearances at conventions.
The first look of ‘Project K’ will still be revealed during the event, but fans who were excited to see Deepika will notice her absence. Deepika Padukone, who made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage,’ alongside Vin Diesel, has shown her support for the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood, with the help of fellow Indian actor Priyanka Chopra.
The strike, which began on July 14, has imposed several restrictions on SAG-AFTRA actors, including their participation in premieres, festivals, film tours, and award ceremonies.
‘Project K,’ directed by Nag Ashwin, is set to become the first Indian film ever to have its premiere at SDCC. The movie features Prabhas and Kamal Haasan as co-stars, and they will unveil the official title, trailer, and release date during the first day of the event. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Disha Patani, and others. It aims to showcase India’s diverse culture and the fascinating world of science fiction to a global audience.
