Suriya ‘humbly’ accepts The Academy’s invitation to join the Oscars committee; Kamal Haasan says via twitter, ‘be proud brother’

Suriya, the first Tamil actor to be invited to the Oscar Committee, accepted the opportunity. Suriya has become the first south Indian actor to be invited to the Oscars committee, following the international recognition of his recent films Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim. Actor Kamal Haasan congratulated him for the recognition.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, on Tuesday(28 June 2022) released a list of 397 artists invited to the Academy’s class for 2022, including actor Suriya and actress Kajol name on Twitter. The invitation for Suriya has come after a scene from Suriya’s Tamil legal drama “Jai Bhim” (2021). It was shared on the Oscar YouTube channel under the category “Scene at the Academy”. On seeing the tweet, actor Suriya thanked the academy for the invitation and said it would strive to make everyone proud.

In his Twitter page, Actor Suriya wrote,
“Thank you @TheAcademy for the invitation, which I humbly accept. My heartfelt thanks to all those who wished me, will always strive to make you all proud!.”

Actor Kamalhaasan congraulated Suriya for the recognition. In his twitter page, Kamalhaasan wrote
“Glad my brother @Suriya_offl treads the ground of stars. In spite of gravity, which makes wings weak. We created angels and stars. Hence be proud brother to join the crowd of excellence.”
