‘Poo’ Ramu, a progressive writer, former member of the State Committee of the Artists’ Association and a playwright and screen artist, has passed away on Monday(27.06.2022). He was 60. He was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital after he had a massive cardiac arrest on Friday. Actor Ramu has attracted attention by giving his stressful performance as the father of the hero Srikanth in the movie “Poo” directed by director Sasi. Thus he came to be known as Poo Ramu.
Poo Ramu, who has acted in many films including Thanga meengal, Neerparavai, Pariyerum Perumal, Veeram, Jilla, Nedunalvadai, Karnan, Soorarai pottru, has emerged as one of the best character actors in Tamil cinema. In particular, he played Surya’s father in the film Soorarai Pottru. He will be disturbed by his emotional acting.
Apart from acting, he is a progressive writer, former member of the State Committee of the Artists Association, a versatile theater and screen artist.
In this situation that Poo Ramu was admitted to the ICU ward of the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai due to ill health. But the news of the sudden demise has saddened the film industry. His body was taken to his residence at Urapakkam and the funeral will be held on Tuesday.
