The war begins with a series of killings in the Nilgiris. The murder pattern points towards a serial killer. From there, we move approximately to the love song featuring lead couple Ashok (Ashok Selvan) and Leena (Aishwarya Menon) sharing beautiful moments in the misty mountains. On the way back through the forest, they are attacked. Five years after the tragic incident, Ashok is still the only survivor of the attack. The only purpose of his life is to find the killer. But he only remembers the attackers voice with the dialogue “if you are silent, you will be alive”.
The protagonist is also obsessed with revenge. While the plot is not new, the brilliant screenplay helps make the film a sensation. However, the film was dropped due to several convenient writing choices. Here, the protagonist accidentally receives important information. Ashok saw the killer who was at the sea. An old man clearly remembers seeing someone in the dark, but it happened five years ago. These easy ways rob the film of its potential to be a brain thriller.
Ashok Selvan has excelled. The actor appears in two different appearances. As a young, handsome man of love and tormented by his past. For the latter, he seems to have worked on his physique because he is stronger and fatter. Janani’s character brings nothing to the table other than acting as a tool to enter the flashback. Although Aishwarya got a great deal, the acting of the actor is also effective.
Vezham also suffers from writing disagreement. In the second half, there are several twists in the film. When some land, some fall flat. Twists and turns keep coming and the characters have no place to breathe to reflect on the action. Vezham means elephant in English is based on Ashok’s characteristics. They say elephants are cruel, capable of remembering enemies until revenge and Ashok has a strong memory. It underscores how he remembers voices. He becomes wild and rude after a while.
Vezham has a better, more intentional solution, which alleviates a lot of complaints. About two hours of smooth running time engages us. Several twists and turns end up with a few applause but they would have landed better if they had been executed more elegantly.
The first half takes some time to set and move the story. But the second half will definitely amaze us if we wait a little longer in the first half alone. There is no alternative to what the movie will give you the experience of watching another good thriller movie.
