Even if a movie has even the slightest redeeming qualities, some of them will inevitably draw harsh criticism. Liger is a 2022 Indian sports action film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, the film is produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. Vijay Deverakonda stars as the titular MMA fighter boxer alongside Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, and Ronit Roy in pivotal roles. American boxer Mike Tyson plays an extended cameo, thus making his acting debut in Indian cinema.

The film was announced back in 2019, before the title Liger was announced in January 2021. Liger marks the film debut of Deverakonda in Hindi cinema and Panday in Telugu cinema. The songs are composed by Tanishk Bagchi and Vikram Montrose. Principal photography began in January 2020 and suffered production delays after March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in February 2021 and after some other shooting suspensions in the pandemic, Liger was wrapped up in February 2022.

The Legend is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by J. D.–Jerry. The film stars Saravanan Arul, Urvashi Rautela (in her Tamil film debut) and Geethika Tiwari (in her film debut), with Vivek (in his final appearance before death), Suman, and Nassar. The film’s music was composed by Harris Jayaraj, while cinematography and editing were handled by R. Velraj and Ruben, respectively. The plot revolves around Dr. Saravanan, a scientist who focuses on using his education and expertise to help his people and the nation.

The film’s title was announced on 3 March 2022, along with a first look and motion poster. The film was shot at various locations abroad, apart from Chennai, Pollachi, and the Himalayas. The film was initially scheduled for release on 1 July 2022 but got postponed to 15 July 2022 before postponing again. The Legend was released theatrically on 28 July 2022.
