‘Aelay’ director says ‘aesthetics’ of Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam stolen from her film

Lijo José Pellissery’s film “Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam,” which is currently available on Netflix, is streaming. The film, which premiered in theatres last month, was well-received by both reviewers and viewers.

Halitha Shameem, a Tamil director who made the film “Aelay,” has now claimed that “Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam” borrowed the aesthetics from her film. She commented in great detail in Tamil on Facebook: “It is unacceptable to copy an entire movie’s aesthetics. During the filming of “Aelay,” we prepared a village and the residents. Knowing that Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam was also filmed there made us pleased. It is tedious to witness “Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam” copy my movie’s look, though. The milkman in Nanpakal serves as the ice cream vendor in my movie. The dog named Sembuli, who follows the funeral home vehicle in my movie and pursues a minibus in Lijo’s movie, “She said. “Actor and singer Chithrai Senan, whom I introduced through my film, is singing along with Mammootty in Nanpakal,” she added.

“There is a lot more to compare as the movie’s events go! You can disregard my movie “Aelay,” but if its concepts and design cues are blatantly appropriated, I won’t be silent “She composed.

Several individuals have stated how shocked they are by the director’s position. “This shocks me. They could copy your work, but they can’t take your original ideas. Remain steadfast, “one remark was written.

Another person who saw the “Aelay” poster observed that there are many parallels between the two movies’ posters. Even the poster conveyed the same mood, the writer claimed.

Samuthirakani, Manikandan, and Deepa Shankar are among the actors who appear in the Tamil comedy-drama “Aelay,” which was released in 2021.  It’s accessible via Netflix.

In the meanwhile, a few people have shown their support for Lijo José Pellissery’s efforts. “Let me share what I know with you. I think technicians would bring up artists or places from the prior movie when they switched between projects. At the same place, hundreds of films are produced, and hundreds of artists are cast in dozens of different productions. That doesn’t imply that they are plagiarising one another’s original ideas, “the writer wrote. “The location is unimportant. The other factors have also been covered! I have no worries at all! But as a creator, I must speak up when certain ideas are copied!” Halita answered the remark.
