Film fans were shocked when director Ponram announced a project with Vijay Sethupathi. Ponram rose to stardom with a few of successful films starring Sivakarthikeyan. The movie was billed as a police drama with the working title DSP. Anukreethy VAS, a well-known model, was cast as the film’s female lead.
The movie, which hit theatres on December 2, debuted to negative reviews from reviewers and viewers. It centers on a cop who fights a notorious goon in Dindigul. The remainder of the plot is based on how they battle it out.
The lackluster box office performance of the film was blamed to its mediocre writing, cliched premise, and uninteresting character designs. Although there were reasonable expectations for the picture, many people were not surprised by its failure.
Its promotional videos lacked charm and offered little to bring in cineastes to theatres. Kamal Haasan’s participation at the movie’s pre-release event, however, attracted notice. The song Nalla Irumaa, one of several songs written by Imman, was maybe the only component that encouraged moviegoers to see DSP.
The project is now preparing for its internet debut. On December 30, DSP, which is funded by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, will be released on Netflix and Sun NXT. The manufacturers have now released an official statement about the matter. The film included significant performances by Prabhakar, Pugazh, Ilavarasu, and Gnanasammandhan among others.
For the movie, Dinesh Subbarayan choreographed the stunt scenes, and Venkatesh S. and Dinesh Krishnan B. handled the photography. On its second day, the movie’s success celebration received a lot of backlash on social media.
