Ajith’s “Thunivu” and Vijay’s “Varisu” are set to duel at the box office for the first time in eight years on the occasion of Pongal (Jan. 12). Both movies have a sizable following abroad, and on January 11 at 7:40 PM (which is 1 AM on January 12) IST), they will have their UK premieres. Although the producers have held early morning performances in Tamil Nadu, their native state, it won’t be that early on January 12. According to reports, the Tamil Nadu cinema exhibitors have moved to ask the state government for permission to hold 1 AM screenings so that the Tamil Nadu public can watch the movie at the same time as the UK audience. The participants will Ask for authorization to run these early-morning programmes from January 12 to January 18.
Bookings have started for the UK premieres of “Thunivu” and “Varisu.” Given that both films had their UK premieres, if the exhibitors prevail, the Tamil Nadu audience could watch both blockbuster films right away. Nothing seemed to be able to stop the creators of “Thunivu” and “Varisu,” not even the time zone disparities!
Meanwhile, the teaser and trailer of both films are yet to be launched.
The Vamshi Paidipally-directed movie “Varisu,” which stars Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in the key roles, is described as a family drama containing romance, humour, and action scenes.
On the other side, H Vinoth’s film “Thunivu,” which stars Ajith in dual roles, is the director’s third consecutive feature with the actor.
