Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaapa, directed by Shaji Kailas, is all set to release on this leading OTT platform
Kaapa, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s final film of 2022, is prepared for OTT distribution. The gangster drama, directed by Shaji Kailas, is based on the book Shankhumukhi by GR Indugopan. Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Anna Ben, Dileesh Pothan, and Jagadeesh all play significant parts in the ensemble cast.
Before the film’s December theatrical debut, Netflix purchased the OTT rights. The film, which Saregama co-produced, was made in part to support the FEFKA Writers Union. The plot of the movie Kaapa, which is purportedly based on real events, centres on the gang battles in Thiruvananthapuram and the ascent and fall of a criminal by the name of Kotta Madhu. The narrative of the movie, which was also written by Indugopan, is how his life intersects with that of an IT engineer and his wife, who later play pivotal roles in a conflict between two rival gangs.
In the movie, which stars Aparna Balamurali as his wife, Prithviraj portrays Kotta Madhu. While Anna Ben plays the character of his pregnant wife, whose name is accidentally placed to the Goonda list or Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act list, Asif Ali plays an IT employee who receives a move to Thiruvananthapuram. Nandu plays a crucial part in the film as well.

The Netflix premiere of Kaapa is scheduled for January 19. The platform has already made the gangster drama’s release date known. To show his support for the film’s creation, Prithviraj donated Rs 25 lakh of his salary to the FEFKA Writers Union fund.
In addition, Prithviraj is presently working on Vilayath Buddha, another Indugopan screenplay based on the author’s book. The actor previously said that he has signed on to star in and direct two more movies based on the Oru Thekkan Thallu Case scriptwriter’s novels.
