The popular Tamil director Karthik Subbaraj recently delivered ‘Mahaan,’ starring Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role, and its direct OTT release received positive reviews. As previously reported, Karthik Subbaraj has collaborated with director Shankar on the script for ‘RC 15,’ the latter’s upcoming film starring Ram Charan.
Karthik Subbaraj recently revealed to a YouTube channel that he is pleased with his association with director Shankar and revealed the director’s secret project. During the conversation, the actor confirmed that Shankar is working on a film based on the Velpari novel, and that pre-production work is currently underway.
The actor also stated that the multi-starrer will be a multi-starrer, with the lead stars yet to be announced. Suriya was previously reported to be playing the lead role in Shankar’s film based on the Velpari novel, but a new report claims that Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh may play the lead role in the periodic drama. It’s worth noting that Shankar previously announced ‘Anniyan 2‘ with Ranveer Singh, but production was halted after the producer of ‘Anniyan‘ sued the director for making the sequel. So, there’s a chance that Ranveer Singh and Shankar will collaborate on the Velpari novel, but we’ll have to wait until the makers confirm it.
Shankar has yet to complete the work for ‘RC 15,’ and the final stage of filming is currently underway. Meanwhile, Shankar is also working on his other film, ‘Indian 2,’ which stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role.
