Madonne Ashwin on winning National Film Award for Best Debut Director

Madonne Ashwin won the National Film Award for Best Debut Director and Best Lyrics at the 68th National Film Awards. He received the honor for the film “Mandela” starring Yogi Babu.

Talking about the National Awards, Madonne Ashwin said, “We had little hope of winning the National Film Award. Honestly, two awards for the film were unexpected. I am very happy that a small film like Mandela, released only on OTT platform, has received such a huge response.”

Madonne Ashwin also added, “I am definitely happy that the Tamil film industry has won many awards. We all knew before the announcement that Suriya sir would win the best actor award. It’s a well deserved win. Director Sudha Kongara Madam also received praise from many people for his tribute to “Soorarai Pottru”. Similarly, director Vasanth Sir’s “Sivaranjiniyum Innum sila Pengalum” has won many awards. It gives me immense pleasure to have my film among these champions.”
