Rajinikanth, a superstar, is currently appearing in Nelson Dilipkumar’s film Jailer. There were rumours that Rajinikanth had signed a deal with Lyca Productions, which had funded his 2.0, to appear in two movies after this one was finished. Now that this information has been formally released by the production company through a spokesperson, it is known that the grand puja for one of the films will take place on November 5 in Chennai.
It is rumoured that this project will mark the Superstar’s first collaboration with the talented young director Cibi Chakaravarthi, who earlier this year scored a hit with the Sivakarthikeyan-starring film Don. After the movie’s release, the actor reportedly called the director to express his appreciation for Don and how much he had impressed him. It’s interesting to note that Lyca Productions produced Don, and the company appears to have been pleased with how audiences responded to Cibi’s Don.
In the meantime, it has been reported that Rajinikanth will make a special appearance in a movie that his daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth is directing and that stars Atharvaa in the lead position. However, insiders claim that this movie may have support from a different production company since it does not fall under the actor’s two-movie contract with Lyca Productions.
Regarding the second movie made by the production company, rumours abound regarding the director. Younger directors Lokesh Kanagaraj, Desingh Periyasamy (of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame), and Jai Bhim creator TJ Gnanavel are also mentioned, along with veteran director Mani Ratnam, who is fresh off the record-setting success of Ponniyin Selvan 1. After a 32-year break, if Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam worked together again, it would be their second project together after Thalapathi.
