Christopher Nolan’s movie has already sold 10,000 tickets for the opening day and 22,500 tickets for the opening week of Oppenheimer.
The anticipation among fans of director Christopher Nolan and Irish actor Cillian Murphy is building as they eagerly await the premiere of “Oppenheimer,” an upcoming biographical thriller film centered around J. Robert Oppenheimer, the renowned theoretical physicist involved in the development of the first nuclear weapons. The movie, shot entirely in IMAX, is set to be released in India as well. According to Hindustan Times, ticket sales have already commenced and are selling rapidly.
On July 4, advance booking for IMAX screens in India opened, and more than 10,000 tickets were sold for the film’s opening day. The enthusiasm for experiencing “Oppenheimer” on the big IMAX screen is evident, despite the movie being rated A in India and having a runtime of three hours. Surprisingly, there are still 16 days left until the film’s actual release, but fans are eager to ensure they catch this biographical thriller in theaters.
To further highlight the immense demand for Nolan’s artistry, Hindustan Times reports that 22,500 tickets have already been sold for the opening week of “Oppenheimer,” specifically for IMAX screens. It’s worth noting that currently, only two multiplex chains, PVR and INOX, possess IMAX screens in the country.
Based on the 2005 biography “American Prometheus” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, “Oppenheimer” features a star-studded cast, with Cillian Murphy in the titular role, alongside Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh. The film is scheduled for release on July 21. Interestingly, it will be sharing the release date with another highly anticipated movie, “Barbie,” a live-action film. Fans are intrigued by the simultaneous arrival of two completely different genres on the big screen.
