On Tuesday, American actor Sean Penn presented one of his Oscars to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
While visiting the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, actor Sean Penn presented one of his Oscars to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
On his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy shared a video of himself with Penn. The video showed Ukrainian President Zelenskyy bestowing the Order of Merit on Penn.
Anton Gerashchenko, advisor to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, also shared a video of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy meeting the American actor.
Penn is well-known for his political activism as well as his talent as an actor. The Hollywood actor gave his first televised interview since Russia invaded Ukraine in March. Sean Penn discussed his meetings with Ukraine President Zelenskyy in the interview.
“I don’t know if Zelenskky knew he was born for this when I met him the day before the invasion and again on the day of the invasion. It was clear that I was in the presence of something new to the modern world in terms of courage, dignity, love, and the way he has unified the country, and this is reflective of so many Ukrainians. “I was endlessly impressed and moved by him, and terrified for him and Ukraine,” Sean Penn told CNN.
