The 68th National Film Awards were announced yesterday. Tamil cinema has won a total of 10 awards. “Soorarai Pottru” Directed by Sudha Kongara, starring Surya and Aparna Balamurali. G.V. Prakash Kumar composed the music. The film won the National Award in 5 categories namely Best Film, Actor, Actress, Screenplay and Background Music. This is the first national award for actor Surya.

Surya said, “Hello. First of all my heartfelt thanks to all those who fill their lives with warm wishes. It is a great pleasure to receive “Five National Awards” for the film “Soorarai Pottru”. The film, which was released in the midst of unexpected crises during Covid19 pandemic, was well received in India. Director Sudha Kongara, who has worked for years to make the life of the self-confident Captain Gopinath into a film, is doubly happy that her creativity has been recognized so well.

This recognition is due to all the crew who helped to make a great movie.
