Top Gun: Maverick is an American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski. It was written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie, from a story conceived by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. This film is a sequel to Top Gun(1986). The film stars Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a test pilot, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film, and the film is dedicated to Top Gun director Tony Scott, who died in 2012. Cinematography handled by Claudio Miranda. Editing was done by Eddie Hamilton. Music for the film was composed by Lady Gaga, Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, Lorne Balfe.
The film premiered worldwide on CinemaCon on 28 April 2022, followed by a global premiere on 04 May 2022 at the San Diego Civic Theatre in San Diego, California and streamed live through You Tube. It was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 18 May 2022 at the official screening and got standing ovation for five minutes from the audience.
The film is scheduled to be release theatrically in the United States on 27 May 2022, by Paramount Pictures in IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX and Dolby Cinema.
