Karthi starrer Viruman directed by Muttiah is releasing today. Aditi Shankar is making her debut in this film.
Karthi has a murderous rage against his father Prakashraj, who is responsible for the death of his mother Saranya Ponvannan. He vows to bring his father Prakashraj and his three brothers, who did not even attend his mother’s funeral, to the house where his mother passed away. Prakashraj, who thinks money is big, asks if the three sons, who don’t know their father’s name, understand Karthi’s affection. Whether Karthi fulfills his vow or not? Tells the rest of the story of the film.
The film says that the father is faithful. It is doubtful whether a bad father has been shown like this in Tamil cinema. At the same time, they have shown how a good mother’s affection can be by putting a verse in the climax scene of the film about how to raise a son. Karthi made his mark as a village boy in his first film Paruthi Veeran. After that, he acted well in the film Komban directed by Muthaiah. Just like how he made a name for himself in those two films, in this film he is playing the role of ‘Viruman’. A character who says wrong is wrong despite being a father. He has dabbled in all areas like action, love, comedy, and sentiment.
The film marks the debut of director Shankar’s daughter Aditi Shankar. A performance that cannot be said to be the first film. She entered the field after being well trained in dancing and acting. Though her impressive performances are few and far between, she is using most of her opportunities. Prakashraj as Karthi’s father. A patriarchal character who thinks that others should only listen to his words. However, it is weak to have an abusive father like that. Rajkiran is Karthi’s maternal uncle. Although an important character, the scenes for him are few. Even in those few scenes, he is disturbed by his mother’s affection. Actor Soori is there for the comedy of the film. Soori turns around only when village films and characters are available. Maina, who plays Prakashraj’s second daughter-in-law, makes us laugh out loud with many snarky lines. Saranya Ponvannan, Vadivukkarasi, Manoj Bharti, Rajkumar, Arundhati, and Prince are many characters in the film.
Yuvanshankar Raja has given three songs for Muthaiah’s film. He has proved once again that his background music is suitable for rural films as well. Selvakumar’s cinematography and Jackie’s art direction are worth mentioning in the film. In the second half, some scenes are extended and narrated. Although the main theme of the film is the conflict between father and son, they have given it as a commercial film for all the fans. The movie says that life will be sweet if you live closely with your relatives like a brother, sister, uncle, and cousin
