Avatar: The Way of Water, directed by James Cameron, hit theatres on Friday. The movie debuted to high anticipation at the box office, but unfortunately, it was unable to surpass Avengers: Endgame’s previous record in India.
The first instalment of the franchise, Avatar, earned $2.9 billion globally, making it the most successful movie ever released. The second act, however, got off to a great start but fell short of the projected box office take. According to the most recent trade sources, the movie’s box office debut saw a 38 Cr rupee gross.
The opening of Avatar: The Way of Water has overtaken all previous Hollywood releases in India. On its first day, Avengers: Endgame from 2019 brought in Rs 53.10 crore. However, Avatar: The Way of Water made between Rs 38.50 and Rs 40.50 crore in its first day of release.
Surprisingly, compared to the North Indian market, the South Indian market has generated the majority of the revenue. Despite the public having access to the Telugu and Tamil versions, the English version performed well.
The lead actors in the movie are Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, and Kate Winslet.
