Watermelon is around 90% water, which makes it useful for staying hydrated in the summer.

Watermelon also contains antioxidants. These substances can help remove molecules known as free radicals, or reactive species, from the body. The body produces free radicals during natural processes, such as metabolism. They can also develop through smoking, air pollution, stress, and other environmental pressures.

A cup of watermelon pieces weighing around 154 grams provides 12.5 milligrams of vitamin C or between 14% and 16% of a person’s daily needs.

Health benefits of Water Melon

1. Helps you stay hydrated as it contains 90% of water.

2. It have anti Cancer effects as it contains several plant compounds including Lycopene and cucurbitacin E

3. Packed with variety of nutrients, including potassium, magnesium, and vitamins A and C.

4. It may reduce inflammation and oxidative stress

5. It may help to prevent macular degeneration (common eye problem that can cause blindness in adults)

6. May improve your heart health (lower your risk of heart attack and stroke by reducing your blood pressure and cholesterol levels)

7. Improves Digestion (plenty of water and a small amount of fiber, both of which are necessary for healthy digestion)

8. Relieve muscle soreness (Citrulline, an amino acid found in watermelon reduce muscle soreness )

9. Aid skin health (Vitamins A and C, which are found in watermelon, are important for skin health)

10. Helps in blood sugar management (converts L-citrulline (amino acid) into L-arginine (amino acid) have a tendency to protect you from diabetes)

11. Decreases the severity of Asthma (watermelon has about 40% of vitamin C which is responsible for reducing the effects of asthma)

12. Reduces Dental problems (The major substance that reduces the adverse effects of periodontal disease is vitamin C)

13. Good for Nerve function (Watermelon has a rich source of potassium that can regulate nerve function)

14. Good for Kidneys (drink 1 glass of watermelon juice every day which helps in fighting toxins and flushes them away from your body)

15. Aids in Weight Loss (this fruit consists of mostly water, it gives you a feeling of fullness and this will curb your appetite from snacking on your favorite food)
